Belmont Shore is a popular community, on the west end of Long Beach, known for its night life. The many restaurants, bars and shops along 2nd Street make for a varied atmosphere. Mere blocks to the south are beaches, and access to Alamitos Bay with a playground and rental kayaks at Bayshore Aquatic Playground Park by Ocean and 54th Street (end of Alamitos Bay Drive). A 2nd access to Alamitos Bay is from Marine Park on Appian Way, under 2nd St. Belmont beach has a great view of Long Beach, Palos Verdes and Catalina on a clear day. Belmont Pier is great for fishing. There are special paved paths for bicycles and skating.
